The City of South Hutchinson is accepting sealed bids for a five‑year farm lease covering approximately 255.42 tillable acres across two agricultural tracts. Interested bidders must complete the official Farm Lease Bid Form and return it in person to City Hall, 2 South Main, South Hutchinson, KS 67505 no later than 2:00 p.m. on August 21, 2026, to be considered.

The lease begins August 24, 2026, and includes mandatory stipulations regarding land use, irrigation system responsibilities, sludge application allowances, insurance requirements, and other operational obligations as outlined in the bid packet.

1. Can different crops or types be planted in different rows?

a. Yes.

2. Can somebody only bid on one parcel?

a. No, the bid will be for both parcels.

3. How many acre feet of water are on the irrigated parcel?

a. 139 Acre Feet

4. Are any soil tests on either parcel available?

a. Yes, there is one for the east parcel

b. It is attached to this correspondence.

5. Will the pivot be removed from the west quarter?

a. Yes, I am taking bids on that now.

6. What about the corn on the fields that have not been harvested?

a. The tenant farmers lease is up. We will try and work around a reasonable schedule.

7. Who is responsible if livestock gets out of the fencing?

a. The tenant will be responsible for all fencing and livestock that would be on the

property.

8. Who is responsible for repairs on the underground piping?

a. For everything from the meter to the pivot the tenant is responsible for the first $500

of any repair of underground water line

b. The tenant is responsible for all repairs of any other utility line such as gas, etc.

9. Who will be responsible for the electricity?

a. The tenant is responsible for placing the electricity under their name for the duration

of the lease.

10. Can the tenant have a say on if hunting is allowed along with the city?

a. Yes, no hunting will be allowed without the City’s approval. Only the tenant farmer

can submit a written request that the property be hunted on from the City.

11. Is the city going to add the new 68-acre parcel into the bid form

a. No, the city is working to develop that property and is just waiting on surveys and

quotes to start the process.

12. Is the city going to add the 8-acre parcel that it owns just o􀆯 96 Hwy to the bid form

a. No, this is owned by the city to provide access to our sewer line. We will be paving

part of it next year.
